Day trips from Syracuse
Baroque Noto for half a day, fishing Marzamemi and the necropolis of Pantalica for a full day.
- Noto
- Interbus coach, direct
- Marzamemi
- Interbus/Alibus coach, direct

The closest trip is Noto, about 1 h by direct coach, for half a day. Marzamemi and Pantalica each take a full day, and no regular line reaches the necropolis.
Half a day, by direct coach
The Interbus coach runs direct, ticket €5.90. Noto is a Baroque town rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake, and it belongs to the UNESCO list of the Val di Noto. Half a day is just right for the main street and the cathedral.

A full day, by coach
A coach (Interbus or Alibus) runs direct to the fishing hamlet on the Ionian coast, about 1 h 30. Marzamemi is a tiny hamlet, and near it in 1959 a Byzantine merchant ship was found, probably from the sixth century, carrying parts of a church nave.

A full day, by tour or car
No regular line covers the necropolis, so you go on an organised trekking tour, 6 h (guided trekking tour), or in your own car. The necropolis is cut into the rocks of the Anapo river valley, from the 13th to the 7th century BC, with thousands of tombs, and it is on the UNESCO list together with Syracuse.

Further than a day: Catania, Taormina and Palermo
Catania has its own airport; Taormina lies further north on the east coast; Palermo is at the other end of the island and needs a plan of its own.
