- Ognina
- Pebbles and sand

Syracuse has three beaches with different shores: Fontane Bianche and Arenella are sandy and equipped, and Ognina is a mix of pebbles and sand with few facilities. The season runs from May to September, and July and August bring the biggest crowds.
The best equipped
Fontane Bianche lies south of the city and has fine white sand, a bar, restaurants and equipped beaches with sunbeds and parasols. It is the pick when you want everything in one place.

Sand and a gentle entry into the sea
Arenella is north of Ortygia, with sand and a gentle entry into the sea. Sunbeds and parasols are rented, and ice-cream vendors walk the beach.

Pebbles beside a fishing harbour
Ognina is a mix of pebbles and sand, beside a fishing harbour, with few facilities, so food and drink are brought along.

Getting there
All three beaches can be reached by car with parking. City bus timetables are published by SAIS Autolinee, and a single ticket is €1.20, a day ticket €3.
