The best time to visit Genoa
Spring and early autumn keep the warmth without the summer crowds on the riviera. The Lanterna is not open daily, so its hours are worth checking before you fix a date.
- Best
- April–June and September–October
- July–August
- Hot and humid
- All year
- The old town

In Genoa the date changes the crowds on the riviera behind the city. The old town itself is open all year. The best time: Apr–Jun, Sep–Oct.
If you only pick one month — September. Temperature is the mean over the whole day (not the daily high), and a rainy day has at least 1 mm of rain; averages for 2021–2024.
When the month matters
The month comes first only if the plan includes a beach or a day trip on the riviera, because crowds gather there in summer. For the city itself it is secondary. The day of the week comes first.

Not open daily
The tower is closed Mon–Thu (open Fri–Sun and holidays 10–18). A plan that includes it has to land on a day it is open, and the month changes nothing there.

What runs all year
The old town, the cathedral's main nave and Boccadasse have no season and can be visited in any month. When the weather spoils a plan, the cathedral, the Royal Palace (closed Monday) and the Aquarium (days closed: none, open 365 days) remain.
