Plitvice Lakes in 1 day
One day, but the route decides everything — the short trail takes about two hours, the long one the whole day, and both start with the same coach from Zagreb.

- coach (Autopromet Slunj
- Entry
- The time slot is booked ahead
- Base
- villages around the park (Korenica

1 day is enough for the park, but the order decides how much you see: coach (Autopromet Slunj, sold via Arriva) from Zagreb, then a route chosen right at the gate — the shortest takes two hours, the longest the whole day. 2 h 30 of driving separates the city from the park.
The coach, choosing a route, the lakes and, time allowing, Rastoke
From Zagreb to the park runs coach (Autopromet Slunj, sold via Arriva), 2 h 30, fare €15.60. It leaves from the main bus station, the same one the airport shuttle pulls into.
Entry at one of the two gates, at the booked time slot, then a route choice: the shorter one runs through the lower lakes, the longer one adds the upper lakes.
Veliki Slap, at the end of the lower route — the crowd is thickest here at any hour, so arriving before noon changes the whole visit.
The boat across Kozjak (included in the ticket) and the panoramic train (included in the ticket) run to their own timetable, which sets the next step.
Anyone with energy left continues to Rastoke, fifteen kilometres north — a village where the Slunjčica river falls between the houses themselves, entry €5 (adult).
Back towards Korenica or on to Zagreb.

The dorm bed is in Korenica, €19 a night, some eighteen kilometres from the park entrance.

What spoils the plan
- Arriving after ten in summer. A booked time slot doesn't guarantee an empty path — the crowd at Veliki Slap builds regardless of the hour printed on the ticket.
- No booked time slot. Entry depends on space left for that day; arriving without one often means no entry at all in high season.
- Swimming. It isn't allowed in any of the lakes; a cooling-off swim belongs in Rastoke or outside the park instead.
