What Plovdiv costs
Plovdiv is a cheap city to look at: the hill, the lookouts, the stadium and Kapana cost nothing, and you only pay for the house-museums and the theatre.
- Hostel
- €11–16 per person, a dorm bed
- Set lunch
- €4.50–6.94
- City transport
- €0.50 per ride

A day in Plovdiv costs little, because half of what's worth seeing has no ticket. A hostel bed is €11–16, lunch €4.50–6.94, and the most expensive ticket in town is the Ancient Theatre, €3.58. All the prices are in the table below.
Prices line by line
The Old Town, Kapana, Nebet Tepe, the Roman Stadium (outer part), the Dzhumaya Mosque and Alyosha are free.
The bill goes up in two places. First, tickets. The theatre, Hindliyan House and the other Old Plovdiv houses also share a combined ticket for up to five sites, which pays off once you enter more than three. The Ethnographic Museum isn't part of it. On a Monday only the theatre is open. Second, dinner in Kapana, where prices depend on the place and the menu is worth reading at the door. Saving is easy, since the walk over the hill, the view from Nebet Tepe and the whole Old Town from outside cost nothing.

The Sofia ticket has no fixed price
The train from Sofia to Plovdiv takes about 3 h total with the metro, but Bulgarian State Railways treats the fare as dynamic, so it only shows when you buy.
