Ravenna in 2 days
The first day keeps the centre and its six mosaics in one walking loop, the second goes out to a basilica beyond town and a mausoleum on its edge.
- Tickets, day 1
- The 5-monument combined ticket €16
- Lunch
- €13.90 for a main course
- Day 2
- Sant'Apollinare in Classe €5

Two days in Ravenna follow the order the monuments sit on the map: day one is a walking loop through the centre, from the garden by San Vitale to the House of the Stone Carpets, day two heads out of town, to the basilica in Classe and the mausoleum on the far edge. Arriving via Bologna (about 1 h 20), day one starts as soon as you land.
The centre and six mosaics
Arrival from Bologna: Marconi Express monorail to Bologna Centrale station, then a regional train to Ravenna, about 1 h 20.
The Basilica of San Vitale and, in the same garden, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia. A combined ticket covers both plus three more monuments, €16; the mausoleum needs a timed slot.
Lunch in the centre, a main course around €13.90, or a quick piadina with squacquerone, €4.50.
The Neonian Baptistery, right by the Duomo, €14.50, with a timed slot.
Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, a few streets on, €12.
Dante's Tomb, on the way to the square, free entry.
The Arian Baptistery, smaller and rarely queued, €2.
The House of the Stone Carpets, an archaeological site with mosaic floors, free entry.

Galla Placidia and the Neonian Baptistery shouldn't be left for the last minute — both run on timed slots.
Classe and the Mausoleum of Theodoric
Train or bus to Sant'Apollinare in Classe, a basilica outside town on the site of the old harbour: €5, open Mon–Sat 8.30–19.30; Sun & holidays 13.30–19.30.
Back to the centre.
Lunch, cappelletti or passatelli in broth, €13.90.
The Mausoleum of Theodoric, on the other side of town: €6.
Sant'Apollinare in Classe opens later, Mon–Sat 8.30–19.30; Sun & holidays 13.30–19.30 — day two then starts after lunch, not in the morning.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
Is one day enough for Ravenna?
For the six main mosaics in the centre, yes, in a full schedule. Sant'Apollinare in Classe and the Mausoleum of Theodoric, both outside the centre, need a second day.
What needs booking ahead?
A timed slot for Galla Placidia and the Neonian Baptistery — both run on a fixed entry time.
