Pisa in 1 day
A loop from the station to the Piazza dei Miracoli and back along the Arno, with time for all four buildings on the square.

- 1 day for the centre
- The Tower
- Book a slot ahead
- Santa Maria della Spina
- Inside Thu–Fri 16–19

One day is enough for central Pisa, if you start early and book the Tower ahead. The plan follows the same order you actually walk: from the station to the Piazza dei Miracoli, on through the Piazza dei Cavalieri and down along the river, back to the platforms.
From the station to the river and back
Arrival at Pisa Centrale (by PisaMover or by train). From there by bus to the Piazza dei Miracoli (€1.50 (kiosk), €2.50 (onboard)), or about twenty minutes on foot.
The Leaning Tower, on a slot booked ahead, because summer means crowds around the Tower. The ticket is €20.
The Duomo, in the middle of the same square, from 10, to 18–20 depending on season; different on Sundays and holidays.
The Baptistery and Camposanto, on the same combined ticket, €10.
Lunch near the square or in the centre — cecina, a chickpea flatbread, is a typical choice, €3–6.
Piazza dei Cavalieri, a few minutes from the square, free to walk around the façades.
Down to the river and along the Arno embankment to Santa Maria della Spina. The outside is always in view. The inside is shut at this hour, since it opens only in its own hours (Thu–Fri 16–19, weekends 10–13 and 16–19), and the church is closed Monday–Wednesday.
If you want to see inside, wait for it to open. Otherwise walk along the river back towards the station, to the Tuttomondo mural on the wall of a former church near the platforms — free, visible any time.
A few steps to Pisa Centrale. From there the train carries on through Tuscany, Florence included.

View Santa Maria della Spina from outside. It is closed Monday–Wednesday, so you cannot go in and the afternoon shortens to the Piazza dei Cavalieri and the mural, with more time for the Tower and Duomo in the morning.
What to drop when you're running late
- Late start? If your Tower slot falls through, take the Duomo and Baptistery first and try for the next free slot in the afternoon.
- Short on time? The Piazza dei Cavalieri is the easiest to drop: it is façades with no ticket and no interior, so it is the smallest loss in the day.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
Is one day enough for Pisa?
Yes, for the centre and the Piazza dei Miracoli. Add a second day for Lucca or Livorno.
Does the Tower need booking ahead?
Yes. Entry runs in timed slots, and summer means crowds around the Tower, so buy the ticket early.
What if Santa Maria della Spina is shut?
It is closed Monday–Wednesday. Then the church is seen from the embankment, and the afternoon is left with the Piazza dei Cavalieri and the Tuttomondo mural.
