Bari is reached at Bari Karol Wojtyła airport (BRI), and from there the Ferrotramviaria train (FM2 line) to Bari Centrale station takes 15 min; the ticket is €5.30. Beyond the station it is a small town done on foot, with city transport for when you are not heading for the old town.

On foot, and AMTAB when that will not do
The old town, the basilica, the cathedral and the castle stand in the same core and are done on foot. For longer stretches there is AMTAB city transport: a ticket is €1, and a day pass €2.50. A ticket for a day trip by train is paid separately.

Train and bus
Polignano and Monopoli are reached by direct train in 16–20 min and about 28 min; Alberobello is reached by FSE (Ferrovie del Sud Est) train or bus, in about 1 h 15 – 1 h 40. Matera is SITA Sud/Cotrap bus, line 900, in about 1 h 15.
