Dubrovnik in two days, in order and by the hour: the walls at eight, when they open in summer, Lovrijenac on the same ticket, a break through the hottest part of the day, Srđ by cable car before sunset, then Lokrum on the nine o'clock boat and an afternoon in Lapad. Every stop carries its price per person.
The walls while it is cool, Srđ once it cools again
The city walls. The ticket is €40 and covers one circuit: come down halfway and the same ticket will not take you back up, so the coffee comes afterwards, not in the middle.
Fort Lovrijenac, on its rock west of the Pile Gate. The walls ticket gets you in, so it goes on the same day — a Lovrijenac-only ticket does not work the other way round.
The Rector's Palace, under a roof as the sun climbs towards noon, then the Sponza on Luža square, at the eastern end of the Stradun.
Lunch and a break until half past five. The plan leaves the hottest part of the day empty on purpose: spend it on the stone and there is nothing left for Srđ in the evening.
Srđ by cable car: return €30, one way €17. In summer the cable car runs late into the night, so there is no hurry down after sunset.

The walls ticket also opens Lovrijenac, but it is good for only one circuit of the walls. Hence the order: the full circuit without coming down, then Lovrijenac, on its rock just outside the Pile Gate.

Lokrum, then Lapad
Lokrum, on the first boat from the City Harbour. The next one leaves at 10, so this gives you an hour on the island ahead of everyone else. The €30 ticket covers the reserve and the boat both ways.
Back to town. Boats leave the island at a quarter past and a quarter to the hour.
Lapad, on bus 6 from Pile, for a beach and the sea without the old town's steps.
The Stradun and the old harbour, if day one left no time for them — now, once the day visitors have gone.

Two mistakes you cannot fix on the day
- Coming off the walls halfway. The ticket allows no re-entry, so coming down for a coffee means paying for a second circuit or not finishing.
- Picking the walls day without the port schedule. The Port of Dubrovnik publishes its calls in advance on its Arrivals/Departures page; the rules allow two large ships at Gruž and one off the old town. The day with no ship is the walls day.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
Does the walls ticket cover Lovrijenac?
It does: a city walls ticket also gets you into Fort Lovrijenac. Not the other way round — a ticket bought for Lovrijenac alone does not open the walls.
How late does the Srđ cable car run?
Until midnight from June to mid-September, until 11 pm in the second half of September, until 9 pm and then 8 pm in October, and until 5 pm in November. The last ride leaves half an hour before closing, and from December to March it does not run.
When is the first boat to Lokrum?
At 9 from the City Harbour, then every half hour from 10. In rough weather it does not sail, so do not leave Lokrum for your last day.
