The day starts with a bus from Poprad, about 1 h to Spišské Podhradie. From there it's a walk to the castle, which takes up most of the morning, then on to the Chapter and Levoča, before the last bus back.
From Poprad to Levoča and back
Arrival by bus from Poprad, bus (SAD Poprad, line 071208: Poprad–Levoča–Spišské Podhradie), about 1 h. The same hub also runs to the High Tatras, in the other direction, while Košice, the bigger international airport, is nearly twice as far away.
A walk to the castle; city transport none, all on foot.
Spišský hrad: the middle and lower courtyards, €12, open May–Sep: daily 9–19 (last entry 18:00); Oct: 9–17 (last entry 16:00). The upper one is still shut for restoration.
The trail up Dreveník, a travertine hill, starts from the same car park below the castle: trail from the car park by the castle: 1.1 km, about 20 min uphill (to the hill itself; exploring the rocks takes longer), entry free.
A walk to Spišská Kapitula, a walled church settlement; walking through is free, the cathedral free (walking around); cathedral €2.50–4 (guided walk-through).
Lunch in Spišské Podhradie, a main course at a regular place €11.79–16.59.
A short drive to Levoča: St James's Basilica holds the Master Paul altar, €4, open timed entry: Mon 11:30–16:00; Tue–Sat 8:30–16:00; Sun 12:00–16:00 (spring season 1 Apr–30 Jun 2026).
A walk around Levoča's main square, then the bus back to Spišské Podhradie and Poprad.


If time runs short, Levoča is the first thing to drop; the castle, Dreveník and Spišská Kapitula still fit as a full loop closer to the castle.
Žehra and some of Levoča's slots depend on the month — booking for Žehra outside season is outside season yes; in season no.
