The best time to visit Palić

The month picks the temperature and the crowd, not whether Palić is even open — the park runs year-round, unrestricted, and mid-July is the one week the place works differently.

Where to go: five more questions →

Summer pushes the temperature up, but only one week a year changes how Palić actually runs: mid-July, when the European Film Festival fills the Great Terrace with an audience. May–June, September (July: festival) give the better balance of heat and crowds; outside the festival and that heat, the park itself runs year-round, unrestricted, so the question isn't whether it's open, only how comfortable it is.

Summer brings heat, not rain

July and August hold both the highest average of the year, 24.3 to 25.5°C, and the least rain, five and six days a month. The middle of the day runs well above that average, so the loop round the lake works better before noon than mid-afternoon.

The festival changes one week, not all of July

In mid-July the European Film Festival brings an audience to the Great Terrace, seating is outdoors and tickets are bought at the box office, €2.56–3.41 each. Closed outside festival days (July) — outside that week, July is just a warm month with no screenings at all.

Why not summer or winter

May–June, September (July: festival) keep the cycle path dry and the temperature free of extremes; January carries both the coldest average, 2.6°C, and eleven rainy days, so the loop round the lake loses its point when the path is wet and cold.
