Where to stay in Catania
Three starting points: the old square for walking to everything, Via Etnea for the park and the volcano, or the station for the train and the Alibus.
- Hostel
- €15–28, a dorm bed
- Three-star hotel
- €45–65 per person
- Around Piazza del Duomo
- The cathedral

Anyone here for the cathedral, the market and the castle picks an address around Piazza del Duomo, where everything is on foot. Anyone counting on the park and the volcano picks Via Etnea. Anyone travelling on by train picks somewhere near the station, where the Alibus also stops.
Around Piazza del Duomo: to walk to everything
An address by the square keeps the cathedral, La Pescheria and Castello Ursino a short walk away, with no ride needed in the day. The market starts in the morning, so anyone sleeping close gets up with it.

For the park and the volcano
Along the city's main axis, which runs towards Etna, lies Villa Bellini, and the centre is a walk down the street. The historic bakeries with their arancini are also here.

For the train and the Alibus
The Alibus runs from the airport to the centre and to Stazione Centrale, 20–28 min, €4. Anyone continuing by train, say to Syracuse, saves time with an address by the station, and Piazza del Duomo is a city-transport ride away, €1.40.

What a night costs
A bed in a hostel dorm runs €15–28. A three-star hotel runs €45–65 per person, per person, in a double room.
