The best time to visit Nafplio
The town is open all year, but in summer Palamidi is climbed in the sun, and in winter both the fortress and the boat to Bourtzi close early in the day.

Nafplio is easiest in spring and early autumn: spring and early autumn. The date changes two things above all, how bearable the Palamidi climb is and how long the fortress and the boat to Bourtzi stay open. The table below shows temperature and rain by month.
Nafplio doesn't close in any month, but the plan changes: in summer around the Palamidi climb, in winter around the hours of the fortress and the boat.
If you only pick one month — May. Temperature is the mean over the whole day (not the daily high), and a rainy day has at least 1 mm of rain; averages for 2021–2024.
Spring and early autumn
In this season Palamidi can be climbed without waiting for the sun to go down. From April the fortress keeps its longer schedule, and the boats to Bourtzi run until the end of October.
Summer
In summer Palamidi keeps its longer schedule (Apr–Oct 8 to about 19; Nov–Mar 8.30–15.30). The climb is best made before 10 am or after 4 pm, leaving the middle of the day for the Old Town and the museum. Bourtzi can wait for the end of the day, as the boats run until 20:00.
Winter
In winter Palamidi's schedule is shorter (Apr–Oct 8 to about 19; Nov–Mar 8.30–15.30), and the boats to Bourtzi run for fewer hours too (boats until end of October 9–20 (every 30 min), winter 9.15–16). The fortress day is therefore planned for the morning, the Archaeological Museum is reached before 15:30, and Acronafplia, which has no opening hours, goes last.
