The train from Naples, the Forum, Lupanar and baths as soon as they open, the Garden of the Fugitives and Amphitheatre mid-day, the Villa of the Mysteries last.

- Entry
- €20, one ticket for the whole site

A day at Pompeii runs to an order the opening hours dictate: the Forum opens at 9, while the Lupanar, the baths and the Villa of the Mysteries follow a quarter of an hour later. So the walk goes from the centre to the edges, with the villa last.
From the Forum to the Villa of the Mysteries
Arrival by train from Naples, about 40 min; the €20 ticket is in your name and needs an ID. First stop is the Forum, open from 9.
The Lupanar and the Stabian Baths open from 9:15. The Lupanar is a small house, so it goes first. At the baths only the men's section is open.
Across town to the Garden of the Fugitives, where the impressions of thirteen victims of the eruption were found.
The Amphitheatre, 9:00–19:00. Since 14 June it can be seen only from the southern entrance, so a walk along the seating is not part of the plan.
Lunch outside the site or a sandwich inside, then slowly back west.
The Villa of the Mysteries, outside the town walls: frescoes of a Dionysian rite in its large hall. Hours 9:15–18:30, last entry 18:15.
The train back to Naples. In winter the last entry to the site comes earlier than in summer, so the villa moves to the start of the day.

Arriving after noon, the Garden of the Fugitives and the Amphitheatre drop first; the Forum, the Lupanar and the Villa of the Mysteries stay.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
Can Pompeii be done in a day from Naples?
Yes, and with time for the villa. Half a day covers the core of the town, but not the Villa of the Mysteries, which stands outside the walls.
In what order?
From the centre to the edges: the Forum, the Lupanar and baths, then the Garden of the Fugitives and the Amphitheatre, with the villa at the very end or the very start.
